On our Alaska to Seattle cruises we journey on the M/V Sikumi from her Summer home in Petersburg Alaska to her winter home in Seattle.

This trip is for the more budget orientated traveller. These trips are our longest and most discounted.

Activities and/or shore excursions are available every other day.

Our regular 7 day Summer cruises have less travelling time and at least one adventure activity or shore excursion a day

There is alot of travelling time as we cover about 100 miles a day.

The reverse trip Seattle to Alaska is in May

F.A.Q.'s

What exactly are our Alaska to Seattle cruises like?
How do they differ from our other cruises?

  • These trips are 10 days long and there is alot more cruising time than our regular 7 day Alaska Cruises.
  • The trip is still custom and there is no set itinerary. The cruise itinerary will be formulated around the preferences of the customer and the weather conditions.
  • There will be an oppurtunity to do at least one major activity every 2nd day of the trip. These activities include: Kayaking, Hiking, Fishing, Town Visits, Beachcombing etc... On our regular 7 day Alaska Cruises day trips we do a major activity every day.
  • There is approx 100 hours of motoring in 10 days on this trip. Some days we can run longer to make for more time another day. But the average is 8-12 hours of motoring a day.  This is definitley more of a traditional cruise, where you cover alot of distance. On our regular 7 day cruises we only travel 3- 8 hours a day.
  • We will leave Petersburg, Alaska and motor south to Seattle, Washington State in early fall every year.
The reverse trip is in May annually
  • Usual stops include Ketchikan, Alaska, Bishop Bay natural hot springs, Alert Bay, B.C. and Victoria B.C. Canada. We anchor in remote bays and sheltered waters along the way.
  • You will travel almost the entire length of Northwest America's "Inside Passage."
  • Lots of sightseeing, picture oppurtunities, wildlife viewing and gourmet cuisine.
  • There will probably be alot of Whales to see. Especially Humpbacks Whales, Grey Whales and lots Dall Porpoise  playing on the boat wake. You may also see Orcas (Killer Whales), Harbor Porpoises and Pacific white-sided Dolphins.
  • There will be a ton of wildlife to see on the shore and in the water. Native Animal life is especially abundant in Alaska.
  • You will probably need a valid passport as we travel through Canada for a large part of the trip. Regulations are changing and American citizens will soon be required to have a passport to travel to Canada.

Hello! The crew of the M/V Sikumi would like to invite you on a specially designed trip 10 day voyage from Petersburg Alaska to Seattle via the Inside Passage. We are offering a unique sightseeing adventure through stunning coastal waterways.

Aboard the Sikumi, you will have all the comforts of home. There will be an experienced deckhand/chef who will prepare wholesome meals at sea in our spacious galley. All of the Sikumi's four roomy cabins come complete with their own sink, head, and shower. At any time, you can find restful solitude in your semi-private room. Play cards, read a book or just enjoy the view from the lounge area (salon) of the boat. We have just enhanced the over all feeling of the Sikumi with an extensive remodel in the Salon and pilot house. Laundry facilities are included on the vessel also.

Small boat versus large boat cruisesAs a seasoned travel writer, I have made this voyage numerous times in the last ten years and recognize that it is a complex and demanding passage. Our crew for this trip will include one licensed captains with extensive experience in Alaskan waters and log history in the Inside Passage. Not only will we show you a safe and comfortable voyage, we also look forward to providing you with a pleasurable and scenic adventure.

We will be sure to take full advantage of the flexibility of this journey to enjoy the natural opportunities that arise in friendly company. Each day we will gather together to decide what activities to pursue. You may choose from kayaking, guided hikes, fishing, birding, whale watching and more.

We will be traveling through Canada so passports or american driver licence will be necessary . Binoculars and cameras with plenty of film are always popular on this trip.
