Wrangell Alaska
Wrangell, Alaskabegan as
a native village and was soon populated by Russian and British
fur traders because of its strategic trading location at the mouth
of the Stikine River.
The community blossomed and grew as an outfitter
for gold prospectors. Later, forest products and fishing were
the area's primary industries. Today, Wrangell's economy is largely
dependent on salmon fishing, timber harvesting, and tourism.
